Explore Ecuador and the Amazon Jungle
See the best of Ecuador in our trip through the highlands, jungle, rain forests, and mountains of this spectacular country straddling the Andes. Meeting in Quito, we travel in private vehicles to a series of discovery hikes into Ecuador’s most interesting National Parks and Reserves: Cuicoche, El Bosque, Cotopaxi, Banos, Tena, and Baeza. We complete a huge loop through the country, seeing the markets of Otovalo, crossing the Andes, visiting Papallacta Hot Springs, into the Ecuadorian Amazonas region to the port of Misahualli along the Rio Napo. We continue into the jungle on long boats for a couple days. Good lodges offer accommodations along the river. The rivers are the highways to access the small remote villages. Anacondas and piranha make swimming interesting! The Amazon is all you can imagine and more: exotic and tropical. The culture and shorter day treks are our objective on this trip.
